High Performance Materials
The High Performance Materials Laboratories are located in new, custom
designed premises in Trafford Park, Manchester. HPM undertake
testing of geosynthetics, flexible membranes for roofing and walling, PPE,
performance apparel and a range of other products.
The first U.K. lab to be UKAS accredited for testing geosynthetics
and still regarded as the U.K’s leading geosynthetic laboratory.
The widest range of UKAS accredited geosynthetic tests offered by
any U.K. Lab
Geosynthetic customers include landfill operators, local authorities,
consulting engineers, manufacturers and waste regulation authorities.

The FTS laboratory in Altrincham, Cheshire is a world-renowned
centre of excellence in the testing and assessment of fire

Also based at FTS is the heat-sensing manikin RALPH. RALPH
is able to evaluate the heat transfer performance of full-size
garment systems when subjected to full flame envelopment. A ‘sister’ manikin SOPHIE is under development and will be commissioned in 2005. Both manikins will test PPE ensembles.
BTTG Fire Technology Services has also built up an excellent
reputation for fire testing many other textile-based and associated
products including:
