BTTG® are excited to be exhibiting at the upcoming Health & Safety Event on the 7th-9th September 2021 at the NEC in Birmingham.

This year, the event is joined with the Emergency Service Show, The Fire Safety event and The Security event to form the largest UK event dedicated to improving safety and security.

BTTG®, Approved Body 0338, offers certification and auditing services for UKCA marking for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Construction Products, and Marine Equipment. BTTG have over a century’s worth of experience and knowledge with textiles and related products. Since 1989 BTTG® have been involved in evaluating protective clothing under full-flame engulfment with the world renowned RALPH and SOPHIE male and female manikins.

Sister company, Shirley® (Europe), in Ireland is Notified Body no. 2895, awarding CE marking for the PPE Regulation, (EU) 2016/425. Through only one assessment, BTTG® and Shirley® offer both UKCA and CE marking, enabling manufacturers to sell their product in the EU and the United Kingdom. Shirley® UK provide the OEKO-TEX® PPE Supplement, The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® PPE & Materials for PPE Supplement stipulates the special conditions for the certification of the personal protective equipment and for materials that are used for their production. For certain military garments and uniforms the PPE Supplement can also be used.

On Thursday 9th September, Day 3 of the exhibition, our Certification Manager, Chris Butcher will be participating in the Knowledge Panel session, ‘UKCA Mark & What it Means for PPE’ which is due to take place a 11am. This discussion will look at understanding the requirements of the UK’s new regulatory mark (UKCA) with the impact on the PPE market, and an update on the new conformity assessment process.
