About Us

BTTG™ is the leading independent organisation for the testing of Personal Protective Equipment and Construction Products.

BTTG™ has a very long and distinguished history.  It was formed in 1988 by the merger of the world renowned Shirley Institute and the Wool Industries Research Association (WIRA), organisations that were founded just after the First World War to undertake textile research.  Since 1919, both organisations have made major contributions to the development of textiles and performance materials.  BTTG™ is extremely proud of its heritage and this continues to motivate us to be the best of the best.

With almost a century of expertise in textiles and related products, BTTG™ continues to make major contributions to the textile industry.  We certify, test, audit, advise and train.  Through our work BTTG™ provide knowledge and expertise to our clients thereby helping them achieve their goals.

We have clients in over 70 countries, and operate in eight countries.  BTTG™ currently employ over 40 staff.  Three of our laboratories are located in the UK (in Leeds and Manchester) and one in India.  Our offices are located in Bangladesh, China, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Singapore, Vietnam and the UK.
