BTTG® & Shirley®’s laboratories remain open during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Fast-Track Services for PPE Available

There is no doubt we are living through exceptional and challenging times due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and the “lockdown” many country’s Governments, including ours, have implemented. While we negotiate our way through these times, we ask for your help and understanding.  Our aim is to keep our business and service to you, our client, running as smoothly as possible during this time while also protecting the health and welfare of our staff, their families and the wider community.

We are monitoring the world-wide situation closely and will plan our work accordingly.  We strive to maintain our service to you.  We have invested in the infrastructure to allow as many colleagues as possible to work from home meaning you can always have someone you can reach by email or phone.

Our core opening hours remain, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

To ensure testing continues to flow through our laboratories, while minimising contact between work colleagues, we have implemented shift patterns to reduce the number of staff on site at one time. However, in some laboratories it is not possible to keep a safe distance to prevent the spread of the virus while maintaining health and safety within the laboratory.

We made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend testing activities in our geosynthetics laboratory, based in Manchester, and suspended testing in our fire laboratory and carpet laboratory in Leeds. All our other laboratories will continue to operate and provide as normal a service as possible.

We have introduced a fast-track service for Certification of UK PPE for COVID-19 response. Testing to support certification of PPE for use in defence of the virus, including microbiological testing, is prioritised above other testing work.
We appreciate your understanding as to why this is necessary.

We are hopeful that the measures put in place will result in a safe working environment for all our colleagues and for the situation to return to normal as soon as possible.  Our sincerest of apologies for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of some of the laboratories. It is a decision that was not taken lightly.

If you have any questions, please contact us in the usual way by phone or email, we are open  Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

With best wishes for your good health.
