Technical Customer Services Officer

Due to promotion within the Customer Service PPE (BTTG™) Team we are seeking a Technical Customer Services Officer for a permanent position in our ever-growing international business.  Based at our office in Trafford Park, Manchester, the ideal candidate would provide first class support to our clients whilst taking full advantage of the excellent benefits we have to offer.

With a century of experience in textiles and related products BTTG and Shirley are the leading independent organisation for testing and certification.  BTTG specialise in the testing, certification and auditing of Personal Protective Equipment and Construction Products.  Shirley is a member of the OEKO-TEX® Association and offers testing and certification to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, MADE IN GREEN BY OEKO-TEX®, STeP, DETOX TO ZERO, ECOPASSPORT, LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX® plus analytical and investigation services and a member of the Expert Witness Scheme.  In essence we certify, test, audit, advise and train. 

We operate in eight countries, assist clients in over 70 countries and have four laboratories in the UK along with one in India.  Our offices are located in the UK (Manchester and Leeds), Bangladesh, China, Kenya, Pakistan, Singapore, Vietnam and India.  

Reporting to the Head of Customer Services (Testing) the main duties are:

  •          Receive, identify and log incoming samples

  •         Issue job cards to the laboratory

  •          Subcontract work as required following contract review

  •          Plan work so as to achieve the completion dates agreed with the customer

  •          Produce draft reports using standard templates

  •          Issue technical reports to clients

  •          Any other duties which may be reasonably requested 

Applicants must: 

  •          Possess attention to detail skills and be accurate whilst working at a reasonable speed

  •          Be able to plan work methodically whilst under time pressure

  •          Degree qualified, textiles or science would be advantageous

  •          Be able to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team

  •          Find it easy to communicate with customers at all levels; by email, telephone and face to face

  •          Be IT literate and numerate

  •          Have ability to keep accurate records
